AEDC: Abuja experiences total ‘darkness’ as national grid collapses

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company(AEDC) is currently on zero allocation from the National Grid, following the collapse of the national grid as at 5 a.m. on Thursday.

ADEC General Manager, Corporate Communication, Mr Oyebode Fadipe, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

Fadipe said the collapse of the national grid interrupted power supply to its franchise areas of Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

”We hope that the situation would improve in the coming hours, given the efforts by officials of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore normalcy at the grid.

Meanwhile, TCN has confirmed the collapse of the national grid.

The General Manager, Public Affairs, TCN , Mrs Ndidi Mbah, told NAN that details of the collapse would be communicated later.

NAN reports that the national grid recorded two major collapses in April.
