Kidnapping of Nursing Mother and Tragic Death of Abducted Student Shake Kwara Community

In Asa Local Government Area of Kwara state, suspected gunmen invaded Oketu, Ago-Oja community, kidnapping a nursing mother, Kehinde Jubril, and a student of the Kwara State Polytechnic. Tragically, the student later died from injuries sustained during the attack, despite the payment of a N400,000 ransom.

The abductors seized Mrs. Jubril from her husband’s residence, leaving her four-month-old child with her elder siblings. They initially targeted her husband, a cattle dealer and local cooperative society official but kidnapped her when they couldn’t find him. The kidnappers are now demanding N10 million for her release.

The community leader also mentioned a previous kidnapping incident, which occurred on the eve of Easter, and resulted in a N2.8 million ransom payment.

Arolu called for government intervention and the establishment of a police post in the area to address the growing issue of kidnappings. The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, has not yet provided a statement on the incident.
