There is apprehension among residents of Damaturu, the Yobe state capital after they noticed the influx of suspected criminals into the metropolis.
This is coming as Christian faithful are preparing to celebrate this year’s Christmas.
Some residents of the metropolis who craved anonymity, said the situation is worrisome and therefore called on security agencies operating in the state to intensify surveillance across in order to prevent criminals from infiltrating.
A security source confirmed the development to DAILY POST, noting that information received revealed the influx of suspected young men mostly within the ages of 18 to 25 into Damaturu metropolis who are mostly involved in menial jobs within and around the city.
“In view of the above, surveillance efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend the suspects for profiling.
“Similarly, sister agencies have been intimated on the development, while own troops have also been requested to remain vigilant against possible infiltration by insurgents and their sympathisers,” the source said.
It was gathered that people in the State have been tasked by security agencies to report suspected persons, object or movement to nearby security formation for necessary action.
