1. The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has declared that, come what may, he will become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The embattled outgoing Governor made the vow on Sunday during his valedictory thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Owerri, the political travails he faced now, particularly the seizure of his Certificate of Return as the Imo West senator-elect, were only his stepping stone to the presidential seat.

2. The Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, on Sunday criticized the Federal Government for announcing the establishment of nomadic radio, being perceived in some quarters as frequency for the Fulani.

The organization through its spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, stated that such establishment could lead to genocide, and recalled how radio was used to promote genocide in Rwanda that led to the loss of thousands of lives.

3. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Sunday lamented what it identified as the escalated despondency, depression and misery in the country since the rigging of the 2019 presidential election.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the former ruling party charged Nigerians to “uphold and support one another in love, at this trying time to check the rising social degeneration in our nation, particularly acts of suicide.”

4. The Federal Government has revealed that payment of the N30, 000 new wage started from April 18.

The FG also declared that no Governor in the 36 states of the Federation will renege on paying the new N30,000 minimum wage.

5. The Chief of Defence Staff, Abayomi Olonisakin, has decried the level of insecurity in Nigeria, saying it was a threat to the country’s existence.

Olonisakin said the security challenges in the country must be tackled through collective efforts, if Nigeria was to remain one.

6. Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has revealed that he had told President Muhammadu Buhari that he would not want to return as a Minister in his cabinet.

Lokpibiri said he had informed the President that he would contest the Bayelsa State governorship race instead.

7. Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari against jailing looters in his second term.

Ojikutu said rather than jail looters, Buhari should ensure that they are killed through firing squad or hanging

8. Gunmen at Gbarantoru community in Yenagoa on Sunday abducted the wife of a lecturer with the Niger Delta University (NDU).

The gunmen reportedly entered the community through River Nun in a speedboat and headed to the residence of the lecturer, identified simply as Dr Charles.

9. There was pandemonium in Jos North LGA of Plateau State, following a violent disturbance in some part of the metropolis caused by the murder of an unidentified civilian around Dutse Uku of the LGA Sunday afternoon.

Report said trouble began when the corpse of a male was found in the aforementioned area.

10. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Sunday, called on Nigerians to pressurise the Federal Government to honour their agreement to forestall fresh strike.

The union’s President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said that the government had not kept faith with our MOA signed on February 7.
