Police reacts to reports of riot at Lugbe, Abuja

The FCT Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that a riot was ongoing and motorists and innocent citizens were being attacked at the Lugbe Abuja.

A video had emerged on social media claiming some Hausa youths were seen throwing stones at vehicles and others seen with sticks hitting on the windscreen of cars in Abuja.

But a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh said the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Babaji Sunday said the video was not from Abuja.

She said security operatives were deployed to the area and they discovered nothing of such occurred.

It reads, “The attention of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, CP Babaji Sunday, has been drawn to a video making the rounds on social media platforms about an incident which is being credited to have happened in Lugbe, FCT Abuja.

“The CP wishes to state categorically that there is no such incident in Lugbe as he is currently on patrol with operatives around the Lugbe-Airport Road axis.

Sunday further urged Nigerians to go about their lawful businesses.
