Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has generously donated N65 million to 6,166 pilgrims from the state who performed the Hajj pilgrimage in 2023. The governor described the donation as a ‘Sallah gift’ to the pilgrims.
Alhaji Laminu Danbappa, the Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, announced this in a post-Arafat meeting with officials. Each pilgrim will receive SRA 50, according to a statement by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Chairman of the Kano State Hajji Media Team.
Danbappa stated that the gift was a recognition of the pilgrims’ exemplary behavior during their time in the Holy Land. He advised the pilgrims to spend wisely, both the governor’s gift and their Basic Travelling Allowances, to avoid financial difficulties that could impact their return journey to Nigeria.
The Director General also said that pilgrims would be returning in batches, following the first-come-first-serve rule. The board will also begin distributing 32kg bags to Kano state pilgrims, along with the Sallah gifts donated by the governor.
Danbappa urged the pilgrims to pray for peace and tranquility in Nigeria, particularly in Kano State, while patiently awaiting their return home. He also offered a prayer for their safe return and for Allah to accept their Hajj.
