Ballon d’ Or: He won Champions League – Thiago Silva questions organizers for snubbing Mendy

Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva, has questioned Ballon d’Or organizers for not including his fellow teammate, Edouard Mendy, in their 30-man shortlist released last week.

Silva believes Mendy should have been included in the Ballon d’ Or 30-man nominees released last week.

DAILY POST reports that the 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or was announced some few days ago, with five Chelsea players included.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, all made the cut.

Mendy enjoyed a stunning debut season in the English Premier League and capped it off by winning the UEFA Champions League, as Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the final.

The Senegal goalkeeper also won the UEFA Super Cup with Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Reacting to the development, Silva, who shared a post from Chelsea’s Instagram page after Mendy’s Man of the Match display against Brentford on Saturday, wrote: “He won the Champions League as one of the best goalkeepers?? Left off the list for the Ballon d’Or?’

Silva also added several emojis to really emphasize how ridiculous he thought the decision to omit Mendy was.
