Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Monday declared that his re-election for a second term in office was the will of God and a collective struggle of the people of the state who placed the interest of the state above theirs.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had early declared the governor winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state having polled a total of 525,280 votes to defeat his closest rival, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (retd) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered a total of 432, 272 votes.
Reacting to his victory while addressing journalists, Governor Mohammed said he was honoured by the revalidation of his mandate by the electorates, pledging his commitment to consolidate on the successes recorded by his administration so far.
The governor, who contested on the platform of the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), however, appealed to other candidates who contested with him in last Saturday’s election to join hands with his administration with a view to moving Bauchi State to higher heights.
He said that with the elections over, it was time to face serious government business and also solicited forgiveness of those he might have offended during the electioneering.
