The Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque in Abuja, Shiekh Nuru Khalid, on Sunday, reacted to his suspension, over his criticisms of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Shiekh Khalid said only God can enthrone and dethrone.
The Islamic scholar had berated the Buhari government over the spate of insecurity in Nigeria.
Khalid had urged Nigerians to boycott elections if the government can’t protect them.
Following his sermon, the mosque committee suspended him.
Disclosing this, the Chairman of the committee, Senator Saidu Dansadau said the Imam’s message was ‘inciting’ and could cause public outrage.
Reacting to the development, Khalid in a Facebook post, wrote: “God is the most powerful. He gives (enthrones) and takes away power (dethrones) from whomever He wishes.
“Oh God! The master of sovereignty, you give sovereignty to whom you please, and seize sovereignty from whom you please, you honour whom you please and you abase whom you please, all good is in your hands, indeed you have power over all things.”
