The leadership of the pan Ijaw youth groups, the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) worldwide, on Tuesday made fresh demands over the recent crisis between the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the National Assembly Committee on NDDC.
The group, which described as embarrassing and disgraceful the squabble between the two, declared that part of the issues can be resolved with the strict implementation of the original master plan for the development of the Niger Delta region.
The Ijaw youths also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, appoint a substantive Coordinator for the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and as well begin the implementation of the remaining legs of the program.
DAILY POST learnt that the meeting, which was convened by the National President, Comrade Peter Timothy Igbifa, to mark the inaugural meeting of the 8th National Council of Ijaw youths, frowned seriously at the unnecessary accusations and counter accusations currently going on between the National Assembly and the IMC.
The Spokesman of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, made their position known while briefing newsmen after its inaugural meeting in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
“The ongoing brouhaha between the NDDC and the National Assembly can be resolved with the strict implementation of the original master plan for the development of the Niger Delta region.
“The Ijaw Youth Council have decided to embark on a fact finding mission to the National Assembly and the IMC independently to ascertain the root course of the crisis rocking the NDDC and make recommendations after due consultations with stakeholders from the region,” he said.
On the internal complaint by some members of the Ijaw Youths Council following the election conducted in Oporoza in Warri South-West Local Government Council areas of Delta State, the IYC leadership also set up a 7-man post election committee headed by the Deputy president of the Council, Comrade Savior Olali, to resolve all post election issues.
They assured all stakeholders in the region of all-inclusive administration.
