1. Dr Stella Oyedepo, the incumbent General Manager and the Chief executive Officer (CEO) of the National Theatre (NT) in Lagos is dead.

She died late on Easter Monday in a fatal auto crash, while returning to Lagos from an official trip.

2. Igbodigho community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State has been thrown into mourning following the setting ablaze of a family of nine by a middle-aged man identified as Deji Adenuga.

Adenuga, popularly known as “Davar” in the community where the incident occurred, was said to have set the residence of the victims on fire.

3. Human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN), has said former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s rejection of the Minority Report of the Constitutional Drafting Committee of 1976, co-authored by Drs. Segun Osoba and Yusufu Bala Usman, is one of the major causes of Nigeria’s woes.

Falana, who spoke at the public presentation of the Minority Report and Draft Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1976) at the University of Lagos auditorium on yesterday, said majority of the problems being experienced in Nigeria today such as the raging insecurity, kidnappings, youth unemployment would have been addressed.

4. 19 persons were feared dead in a fatal motor accident in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The victims were said to be from Tsangayar Ragwam in Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State and were on their way to attend a relative’s wedding at Gadar Maiwa.

5. The Board of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has approved appointment of Deputy Corps Marshals (DCM) and promotion of 14 Corps Commanders (CC) to Assistant Corps Marshals (ACM) and 16 Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC) to the rank of Corps Commanders (CC).

A statement on Tuesday by Bisi Kazeem, Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC, said the Board after its sitting, considered the report of the Establishment Committee in respect of 2018 Senior Officers promotion and approved the appointment and elevation of 34 Senior Officers to the next rank.

6. Prof. James Ayatse, the Tor Tiv and Chairman, Benue Council of Chiefs, on Tuesday condemned the communal clashes between Shitile and Ikyurav-tiev communities in Katsina-Ala Local Government.

A statement signed by his Media Assistant, Freddie Adamgbe, quoted Ayatse as expressing dismay over the loss of lives and property as a result of the clashes and urging the warring communities to end the hostilities.

7. Victims worse hit by the rampaging bandits terrorizing communities located along Kaduna-Niger Highway have cried out to the Senate for help.

They called on the Senate to compel security agencies to fish out bad eggs within their midst that give out information to the armed bandits attacking them and other travellers.

8. The Court of Appeal has refuted claim by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that Justice Joseph Oyewole was part of the three-man panel to hear the appeal on the judgment in the Osun State governorship election dispute.

The court’s spokesperson, Mrs. Sa’adatu Musa Kachalla, said Justice Oyewole was never considered as a member of the panel.

9. Jibrilla Bindow, the incumbent Governor of Adamawa State, has rejected the results of the governorship election in the state.

Bindow, on Tuesday rescinded his earlier congratulatory message to Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Governor-Elect, challenging the latter’s victory at the Adamawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

10. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to bypass the knotty issue of collateral which he described as “a terrible colonial legacy,” so that farmers will get easy access to capital.

The President gave the directive during an audience with members of the United Kingdom-based Foundation for Good Governance for Development in Nigeria at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.
