Man City’s Champions League ban: La Liga president hails UEFA

La Liga president, Javier Tebas, has hailed UEFA’s decision to ban Manchester City from the Champions League.

DAILY POST recalls that Man City were handed a two-season ban from the Champions League and Europa League on Friday.

Pep Guardiola’s side were found to have seriously breached their club licensing and financial fair play regulations.

Reacting to the development, Tebas, who is pleased by UEFA’s decision to ban Man City, said it is better now than never.

In a tweet on his official Twitter page at the weekend, Tebas wrote: “UEFA is finally taking decisive action.

“implementing the rules of financial fair play and punishing financial doping is essential for the future of football.

“For years we have been calling for strict action against Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain.

“We finally have an excellent example of action and hope to see more.

“Better late than never.”
