Fati, who became the youngest player to score two goals in La Liga history, said it was a dream come true for him sharing the pitch with Messi, adding that he is always grateful to the Argentine captain.
Barcelona defeated Levante at Camp Nou, thanks to Fati’s first-half brace.
Ruben Rochina did score a late goal for the visitors.
“I’ve always imagined this moment, and I’ll try to enjoy it,” Fati told Barcelona’s official website after the match.
“I want to thank my team-mates and the coach for the opportunity that I have. They’re making things a lot easier for me.”
Fati added: “I want to keep improving and working to help the team the most. I have been watching Messi play for years.
“He’s incredible, and sharing the pitch with him is a dream. I’ll always be grateful.”
Barcelona’s next La Liga fixture is against Real Betis on February 9.
