Kano district heads shun Ganduje’s order, attends Emir Sanusi’s Dubar

Published

on

No fewer than 11 district heads in Kano shunned the order of Governor Umar Ganduje directive for them not to attend the annual Dubar celebration at Emir Mohammed Sanusi II’s palace.

Their attendance at the celebration was in disobedience to Ganduje who had told them not to honour Sanusi’s invitation for the event.

Ganduje in a statement by his media aide Abba Anwar directed the district heads to decline Sanusi’s invitation.

He said only district heads under the jurisdiction of the Kano Emirate should attend the Hawan Daushe.

The Governor asked district heads in the four new emirates created by his administration to observe the Durbar at their respective emirate capitals.

District heads that attended the Dubar are Madakin Kano Yusuf Nabahani of Dawakin Tofa, Dan Amar Aliyu Harizimi Umar of Doguwa, Dokaji Muhammadu Aliyu of Garko, Makama Sarki Ibrahim of Wudil, Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idinawa Buhari Muhammad of Garun Malam, and Barde Idris Bayero of Bichi.

Others were Sarkin Bai Mukhtar Adnan of Danbatta, Yarima Lamido Abubakar of Takai, Dan Isa Kabiru Hashim of Warawa, Dan Madami Ibrahim Hamza Bayero of Kiru, and Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta Bello Abubakar of Gabasawa.

Prior to Ganduje’s directive, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II had invited district heads from all 44 local governments in Kano to attend the Hawan Daushe in Kano city.

However, Ganduje’s directive against Sanusi’s invitation may not be unconnected to the supposed feud between them.

Earlier this year, the state government split the Kano Emirate into five to reduce Sanusi’s influence as the paramount ruler of the Kano Emirate.

Although a state high court ruled against the creation of the emirates, Ganduje still went ahead to inaugurate the Emirs and said his action preceded the court order.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila has congratulated the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States, Yahaya Bello and David Lyon, for emerging victorious.

Gbajabiamila, in a congratulatory message by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi, said the victories recorded by the APC candidates in the two States was an indication of the wide acceptance of the party in the two States.

The Speaker said Bayelsa State, in particular, has now joined the Next Level train, having seen the massive change driven by the APC-led government at the federal level.

“It is gladdening to know that our party, the APC, came out victorious in the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States. This is a testimony that Nigerians across the length and breadth of the country are beginning to realise what the APC means for the country.

“This victory is not for the party or its members alone, but for the entirety of Nigerians.

“May I call on the two governors-elect to be magnanimous in victory. The APC stands for the good of Nigerians, and I know the two governors-elect are part of the journey to make Nigeria better,” the Speaker said.

He called on the people of the two States, including members of the opposition parties, to join hands with the governors-elect to make their States great.

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, and wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, have been pictured celebrating with the Jigawa State Governor Mohammed Badaru, who is also the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Campaign Organisation and Senator Ita Enang over the victory of David Lyon.

Jonathan’s kinsmen in Kolo, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State also trooped out on Saturday celebrating the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 9.

An ex-aide to the former President, Reno Omokri had yesterday debunked the speculations that his former principal, who obviously did not show his support for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Douye Diri, voted for the APC candidate, David Lyon.

However, Jonathan and his wife were captured celebrating the already confirmed victory of Lyon with the APC leaders when they visited his residence in Otuoke on Saturday evening.

Recall that prior to the election, Jonathan’s mother was also reported to have endorsed the candidate of the APC and reports emerged on social media on Sunday claiming that the former President also voted for the opposition party in the State.
