Suspected gunmen on Tuesday, invaded a community known as Anguwar Azara in Jere, along Abuja-Kaduna highway and kidnapped 10 people.
A resident in the community, who is also the Sarkin Hausawa, Mallam Tanko Ibrahim, said he heard gunshots around 11:52 pm.
According to him, for fear of being kidnapped, he escaped through the exit door of his house as the gunmen broke into the residence, but could not find him.
The monarch said the gunmen abducted his two wives; Maimuna Ibrahim and Hauwawu Ibrahim and his four daughters; Aisha Ibrahim, Farida Ibrahim, Zainab Ibrahim and Hussaina Ibrahim.
He added that after the gunmen abducted his daughters, they also went to a nearby house and whisked away four other persons, including a nursing mother.
Mallam Tanko, who could not hold back his tears, explained that his first wife, who had earlier pleaded with the bandits to leave her because of her ill health, was later set free.
He further added that the gunmen, who wielded sophisticated weapons, shot indiscriminately, which instilled fears in the minds of residents as they scampered for safety.
“It was after they searched and couldn’t find me that they went into the room where my daughters were sleeping and whisked four of them away at gunpoint
“In fact, they macheted a man until he became unconscious. He is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital at Katari,” he said.
He added that security operatives arrived their community an hour after the bandits had left with their victims.
ASP Mohammed Jalige, did not pick his calls, just as he did not respond to text message sent to him as at the time of filing this report.
