Imo Police beef up security ahead Saturday’s rerun

The Imo State Police Command has assured of its preparedness for Saturday’s election rerun in Okigwe North, Orlu Federal Constituency and Njaba State Assembly.

The new Imo Commissioner of Police, CP Mobolaji Olaniti Fafowora in his maiden press briefing yesterday, stated that the command will work in synergy with other security agencies including the DSS and the Civil Defense Corps to record a hitch free exercise.

CP Mobolaji gave this assurance while parading over 29 suspects at the command’s headquarters in Owerri yesterday.

According to the CP, the exercise is his first official assignment in the state and serves as a litmus test on his capacity.

He advised mischief makers and ballot snatchers to rescind on their inglorious mission, maintaining that there won’t be any room for such acts in the election rerun exercise.

Meanwhile, the CP had disclosed that the suspects as paraded at the command were involved in various crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking, stealing etc.

He maintained that after thorough investigation into their offences, those found wanting would be charged to court.

The Police commissioner called on all Imo citizens to assist the police in the business of security, describing it as everybody’s business.
