FG Spent Over N50bn of N400bn Allocated for Nationwide Poverty Reduction – Gov. Sule

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, who serves as co-chairman of the Technical Working Group of the National Steering Committee of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), revealed that over N50bn of the N400bn approved by President Muhammadu Buhari has been spent on poverty reduction and growth initiatives across the nation.

Governor Sule shared this information with reporters following a committee meeting led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The committee, which was established by the president in June 2021, is tasked with national duties, not limited to individual states.

Governor Sule explained, “In July 2022, the same steering committee being chaired by the vice president sat down and reviewed a presentation by the Technical Working Group, which is chaired by the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, as well as myself as the co-chair.”

The committee has reviewed the implementation and spending updates, as well as the approval for this year’s spending. Although the performance so far is below expectations, nearly every aspect of the 15 spending areas has seen progress.
