Father impregnates daughter in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command said it has arrested a 52-year-old father, Emmanuel Ikhine, for allegedly impregnating his 18-year-old daughter.

Ikhine reportedly had carnal knowledge of her daughter several times which resulted in pregnancy.

The randy father was said to have divorced his wife a few years ago and had since been having carnal knowledge of her only female child out of three children.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report by a neighbour, Yemisi Ashade.

The PPRO said the daughter reported the case to a neighbour when she could no longer bear the pains of sexual assaults by her father.

According to Oyeyemi, the daughter said she was threatened not to divulge the affair to anyone.

Oyeyemi said the command discovered that the daughter was pregnant for her father when a test was conducted on her.

“She stated further that she can no longer bear the sexual assault hence she confided in her.

“Upon the report, the DPO Sango -Ota, CSP Godwin Idehai, detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy father was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, he made a confessional statement that he has been having carnal knowledge of the victim long before now since he has separated from his wife.

“The victim who claimed to be the only girl amongst the three children of her father explained how the suspect has been sleeping with her whenever her two brothers are not around with threat, but, when she can not bear it, she reported to their neighbour who brought her to the station to report.

“The victim was taken to hospital where it was confirmed that she was already pregnant for her father.

“Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police, Bashir makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution,” Oyeyemi stated.

Pirates abduct three Russian sailors in Cameroon

Three Russian crew members of a cargo ship have been abducted by pirates near the port of Douala in southern Cameroon, the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday said.

The cargo ship “Marmalaita” belonging to the Danish company, Ultrabulk, carrying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, was attacked by unknown people on Thursday.

According to the Russian Embassy in Yaoundé, Cameroonian authorities and representatives of the ship-owner company are taking steps to clarify the incident, the statement said.

Russian diplomats are actively working with Cameroonian authorities and the ship-owner to facilitate the quick release of the Russian citizens, a report by Xinhua, said.

NDLEA talks tough over Gombe farmers inducing labourers with hard drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned farmers in Gombe State against inducing labourers with hard drugs to work for them.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the NDLEA Commandant in the state, Mr Aliyu Adole gave the warning in an interview with the newsmen on Friday.

Adole said that investigation revealed that some farmers were in the habit of adulterating milk and pudding with drugs before giving them to labourers employed to work in their farms, to enable them work tirelessly.

According to him, most of their victims were youths between the ages of 15 and 30 irrespective of gender.

The Commandant said “I want to seize this opportunity to warn perpetrators of such act, that NDLEA will not leave any stone unturned to ensure they face the wrath of the law.

“Those found wanting will be prosecuted, therefore desist from such act.

”Research in the state had shown that youths, male and female, were the major victims of drug abuse.

”Further findings showed that the impact of drug abuse on academic activities impede with the physiological, psychological and emotional functions of the students.”

Adole said that the effect of drugs could impair the memory and affects other intellectual faculties.

He also said that some of these youths also engage in related vices of drug trafficking which seriously affect the nation’s development and render the labour market saturated with unwanted or unqualified labour force.

Suspected killers of a Catholic Church Priest, Rev. Fr. Paul Offu have been arrested, Enugu State Police command confirmed on Friday.

DAILY POST reports that this was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police in Enugu state, CP Suleiman Balarabe during a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters.

Fr. Offu was murdered early this month at Awgu Area of the State, a development that sparked outrage.
