Unknown gunmen on Monday shot dead a man simply identified as Alhaji after allegedly robbing him of the sum of N700,000 along PTI road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was learnt that the victim made some financial transactions at a new generation bank where the gunmen accosted him.
The gunmen had trailed and robbed the victim the said sum after he left the bank at Jakpa Road.
It was gathered that the victim was shot dead by the gunmen for daring to scare his attackers with a dagger.
An eyewitness, who craved anonymity, said the victim was trailed from the bank by the gunmen from Jakpa junction road before he was killed at PTI road.
Contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the report.
DSP Onovwakpoyeya said, “The story is true and investigation is ongoing.”
