Champions League: Yobo singles out one Tottenham player for praise

SuperSport pundit and former Everton defender, Joseph Yobo has reserved special praise for Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min for his role in their Champions League success against Manchester City on Wednesday.

The South Korean stepped up to the plate in the absence of the injured Harry Kane, scoring two goals.

City and Spurs played out one of the most exciting games in Champions League history at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Tottenham, however, pulled through on the away goals rule (4-4 on aggregate).

There were a total of seven goals scored, with South Korea star Son Heung-Min and England winger Raheem Sterling netting a brace each.

Yobo told SuperSports, ”With Harry Kane there, he (Son) is being overshadowed a little bit. We saw during the season when Kane was injured, he stepped up to the occasion.

”Now Kane is out again tonight, he scores two. He is believing in himself more and when he scores goals, he feels that he can get things going.

”When Harry Kane is not there, he feels that he is the main man, he is the pivotal guy, so everything has to go through him and he’s rising up to the occasion.”
