Gunmen have invaded Orie market at Agbedo community -Apayan in Igalamela/Odolu Local Area of Kogi State and killed one person, and abducted many others.
DAILY POST also gathered that the gunmen are demanding N20 Million ransom to release their victims.
The suspected bandits who attacked the market in large numbers on Sunday, August, 14th 2022 at 2pm, reportedly started shooting sporadically to scare the people in the market.
The shooting DAILY POST learnt caused pandemonium at the market as people ran for safety, leaving one person identified as Johnson dead.
Sources said late Johnson was hit by the bullets and died, while another person was abducted immediately to an unknown place.
It was gathered that the incident was the third time in a row when suspected gunmen would attack the market and abduct people and later demand ransom.
Investigations further revealed that the suspected hoodlums are taking advantage of the thick forest between Apayan in Kogi State and the boundary of Enugu and Anambra States to perpetrate their evil.
Sources further revealed that the people of Agbedo community in Apayan district of Igalamela/Odolu Local government area of Kogi State have continued to appeal to the state government and security agencies in the state to come to their aid over the incessant attacks on defenceless people on market days in the area.
When contacted for confirmation, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Ovye Aya confirmed the incident on Monday.
The Police spokesman said it was a case of invasion of a shop owned by one Johnson after being killed, one Edwin was abducted along many others on the market day.
