2019: Edo APC denies suspending Speaker Adjoto from party

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday debunked speculations that it has suspended the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Kabiru Adjoto, from the party.

The party in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Azebamwan, and made available to AREWA.NG by his Personal Assistant, Ogochukwu Isioma, said there was no truth in the rumour.

Azebamwan revealed that the State Working Committee of the party only threatened to suspend the speaker for refusing to comply with a decision of the party.

He, however, added that the speaker went to court and served the party with relevant court papers.

“As a party with tremendous respect for the rule of law, and not to be seen to do anything likely to prejudice the decision of the court, we decided as a party, to maintain status quo pending the determination of the case,” Azebamwan said.

Meanwhile, the three-month suspension of Folly Ogedengbe, lawmaker representating Owan East constituency, has been lifted by the Edo State House of Assembly.

Ogedengbe was suspended following his alleged involvement in a plot to impeach the Assembly speaker, Kabiru Adjoto.

The Speaker called on the impeached Deputy Speaker, Victor Edoror to return all official vehicles under his possession. He also directed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to effect the order.
