This claim was made by respected and reliable sports journalist, Gerard Romero.
Romero disclosed this in a post via his Twitter handle, @gerardromero, on Saturday.
According to him, the former Manchester City star Aguero will make the announcement of his retirement at a press conference next week.
He tweeted, “Kun Agüero retires. Heart problems force him to leave football active. A press conference is scheduled for next week to announce his withdrawal. We are counting it in.”
DAILY POST reports that the decision comes more than a fortnight after the news first broke through that Aguero could retire from playing football after he suffered a heart arrhythmia during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw against Alaves on October 30.
Aguero was making just his sixth appearance for the Blaugrana when he began experiencing chest pains during Barcelona’s LaLiga clash against Alaves.
The 33-year-old forward was taken to hospital, where he underwent a series of cardiological tests to determine the problem.
Barcelona then confirmed in an official statement that Aguero would be unavailable for at least three months while the attacker received further treatment.
Aguero eventually confirmed on his Twitch stream that he had not taken a decision yet, and was waiting for a medical confirmation about the same.
Today, Romero reports that the decision has been taken, and the announcement could come next week through a press conference.
