EPL: You won’t earn £500,000 per week at Liverpool, be realistic – Ex-Arsenal star tells Salah

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been told he can never get his reported demand of £500,000 per week contract at Liverpool.

The Egypt International is demanding a huge pay rise to keep him at Anfield with less than 2 years left in his current deal.

Salah has been the Reds top scorer in each of the last four seasons and as such feels he should be rewarded with a huge £500,000 a week deal.

The demand, if granted the Egyptian, would surpass that of Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently the top-earner in the Premier League.

The Egyptian is currently receiving around £200,000 a week but the club wants to keep him and he wants a rise given he’s been their top scorer in each of the last four seasons.

“He merits more but he’s not going to get £500,000-a-week,” Groves told talkSPORT.

“I think this is the first in the duelling of the negotiations but if he wants to stay he’ll have to come down a bit.

“His numbers are outstanding. He still got 22 league goals in a team that wasn’t firing last year.

“He does deserve another contract but Liverpool are not in the realms of paying a player £500,000-a-week.

“He might have to be a bit more realistic in his demands. Is this him saying ‘right, I could be off’? Who knows? He’s definitely not getting 500 grand-a-week, no chance.”
