Osun court remands suspected cultist for allegedly stabbing neighbour

A 32-year-old man, Ahmed Kolajo, was on Monday remanded in prison by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun for allegedly stabbing a man on the head.

The court’s Magistrate, Olukunle Owolawi, charged Ahmed with three-count of assault, breach of peace and secret cult membership.

Owolawi, however, refused him bail and ordered for his remand in prison and adjourned the case until July 15.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl. Olawale Odusina, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 28, around 04:15 p.m. at Oja-tuntun, Ile-Ife.

Odusina said that the defendant assaulted one Obihewu Agwu by stabbing him severally on his head and causing him near fatal injuries.

He added that the defendant also assaulted PC Omisakin Mayowa, attached to ‘A’ Division, Moore Police Station, Ile-Ife, while performing his lawful duty.

He said the offences contravened sections 62 (A), 355 and 356 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant who was alleged to be a member of a cult group called Eye Confratanity, however, pleaded not guilty.

Earlier, the Defence Counsel, Mr Leke Dada, had pleaded for his client’s bail in the most liberal terms, promising that he would provide responsible sureties, NAN reports.
