It is understood that the France midfielder wants €15m a year, which doesn’t fit into Los Blancos’ wage structure.
Pogba, who joined from Juventus for a then-record €100million three years ago, is under contract at United until June 2021.
But the Red Devils retain an option for an extra year which could be triggered solely by the club.
However, with United set to feature in the Europa League next season, the 2018 World Cup winner wants a new challenge.
If Pogba stays at Old Trafford, he also faces the prospect of seeing his wages cut by 25%, after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.
