North Korea has fired a short-range missile from the east coast city of Wonsan towards the sea, the South Korean military has said.
The projectile was launched at around 9am on Saturday.
It comes amid a diplomatic breakdown that has followed the failed summit earlier this year between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over the North’s pursuit of a nuclear arsenal that can target the US mainland.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said they were working with US authorities to analyse details of the launch.
