Wole Soyinka takes COVID-19 vaccine jab

Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, has received a dose of the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on New Media, Emmanuel Ojo, disclosed this on Friday.

Ojo said Soyinka was vaccinated on Friday by the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker.

The Ogun State Government, on Monday, received its first 50,000 doses of the vaccine from the Federal Government.

DAILY POST reports that the playwright has joined the likes of Governor Dapo Abiodun, Former Governor Segun Osoba, Speaker Olakunle Oluomo and other Ogun dignitaries in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, frontline Health workers in the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Isolation Center in Sagamu have also been vaccinated against the virus.

This decision, according to the Commissioner for Health, became expedient given their invaluable contributions in containing the pandemic in the state
