What Rohr said about Iheanacho’s future with Super Eagles

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has insisted that Kelechi Iheanacho remains in his plans, ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Iheanacho was dropped from Nigeria’s squad to the 2019 AFCON, after Rohr publicly questioned his professionalism.

The Leicester City forward has since bounced back and scored three times in his last two pre-season games for the Foxes.

Rohr believes that Iheanacho could make a return to the Eagles team.

“Work has already started and I know that this player Kelechi Iheanacho can still do a good job for us.

“Kelechi too can score goals and I think that his omission from the AFCON would be a big motivation for him.

“I was talking with him throughout the AFCON because he’s still a congruent part of our team and I know he wants to work harder now because he has understood the professional ways of doing things.

“I know that Kelechi can be an interesting player for the Super Eagles,” the German told SportingLife.
