Transfer: Ex-Manchester United coach warns Solskjaer not to sign Bale

Former Manchester United coach, Rene Meulensteen, has warned current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, against signing Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

According to him, United would be taking a huge risk if they signed the Welshman this summer, because “it is difficult to see where he is at the moment” in terms of his fitness and form.

Bale has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with Real manager Zinedine Zidane eager to get rid of him.

However Meulensteen, who coached at United for 11 years across two different spells, has questioned the wisdom of signing the forward, who will turn 30 next month.

“You would obviously talk about bringing in a high-profile player in, but is Gareth Bale still at his best?

“We all know he’s had his fair share of injuries, so it’s always a risk,” Meulensteen told talkSPORT.
