Plateau State University (PLASU) confirmed that its security operatives repelled an attack by bandits on Tuesday night on the university’s female hostel. According to the school authorities, the gunmen invaded the Bokkos campus between Tuesday night and Wednesday, but no abductions occurred.
Mr. John Agams, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He said the criminals targeted the university to kidnap students, but the local security personnel in the institution repelled them.
Agams stated, “It is true that gunmen attempted to kidnap some of our students, but our local security men repelled the attempt. In the process, one student was injured, but no student was abducted. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benard Matur, is currently at the school premises and appealing to students to be peaceful.”
