Man dragged to court for allegedly biting neighbour in Ekiti

A 36-year-old man, Adesina Badmus, has been dragged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting his victim and inflicting a deep cut on him.

The defendant of no fixed address is facing a charge of assault.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 29 at about 2215 hours at No. 32, off Agric Road in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant had an argument with one Ajanaku Adelegan, and assaulted him by cutting his left hand finger with his teeth.

He said the offence contravened Section 338 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His counsel, Mr. Gbenga Bejide, urged the court to grant him bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adegboye adjourned the case until June 17 for hearing.
