The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest to journalists yesterday.
He said that the suspect usually operates on the two-kilometre link bridge between 6pm and 10pm alone, using the gun to threaten his victims to hand over their belongings to him.
According to him, the suspect had been on police wanted list since two weeks, after some passengers on board a commercial bus heading towards Lagos State University (LASU), lodged complaints.
The police spokesman said that the activities of the suspect had become so notorious that those who ply the bridge are afraid to use the area in the evening and morning hours.
“The suspect was nabbed by surveillance team deployed to Aratumi/Ishasi on the LASU-Igando expressway,” he said.
Girl found dead in Delta hotel room after checking in with boys
The remains of the deceased was already decaying when it was found under the bed in the said hotel on Monday August 19, DAILY POST can report.
It was learnt that the deceased girl was severally raped to death by some boys who brought her to the hotel three days before she was found dead.
The boys reportedly hid her remains under the bed and checked out of the hotel room.
The offensive odour in the hotel attracted the management who eventually called the Police to report that a lady died in one of the rooms.
Swinging into action, the police evacuated and deposited the corpse in a morgue and shutdown the hotel.
When contacted for comments, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke confirmed the report to DAILY POST.
According to him, “It is true a lady died in a hotel in Sapele. I don’t know what killed her.”

IPOB attack: Lawan, Ngige, others visit Ekweremadu
On his entourage was former Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, among others.
The visit was in solidarity following the attack on the Enugu-born politicians by members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in Nuremberg, Germany at the weekend.
After his arrival in Abuja, Ekweremadu advised Nigerians, including Igbo leaders, to feel free to travel to any part of the world.
“I think they were just people, who were misdirected and misguided. I had the feeling they were under the influence of alcohol. They don’t represent the feelings of our people. There is nothing to worry about.
“The organisers, the Igbo in Germany, have written a letter apologising for what happened. Everybody is free to go anywhere because those ones don’t represent the behaviour of Nigerians abroad.
“For me, I have moved on. The government and authorities of Germany are free to do whatever they wish about it”, he said.
On IPOB threats to attack more Igbo leaders, especially the governors of the South East, Ekweremadu said: “Let me just say that the leaders he (Kanu) was mentioning were responsible for getting him out of jail in the first place.
“What we will do in this circumstance is to leave him to his conscience, the verdict of history, and possibly the repercussions of ingratitude. But I hope he won’t go to the extent of attacking any of the South East leaders anywhere”.
