House Of Reps To Investigate CBN Within Five Days

The House of Representatives has mandated its Committee on Public Procurement to investigate allegations of gross statutory breaches in the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The probe is coming even as Godwin Emefiele, governor of the bank was caught on tape trying to cover up N500bn which he alongside top CBN managers invested in a private business that failed.

The House on Tuesday asked the committee to investigate allegations of violation of the Public Procurement Act by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Ministry of Finance and First Bank Nigeria limited, over a grant to Oyo State to procure agricultural equipment.

Lawmakers described the act as undermining and sabotaging the intention of the Federal Government in making Nigeria fully self-sufficient in food production.

The committee will submit it’s result in five days.
