Five crushed to death by hit-and-run driver in Ondo

It was a horrifying scene on Sunday morning when no fewer than five people were crushed to death by a hit-and-run truck driver in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo State.

The incident occurred at Awoyaya KM 17 area of Ife garage in Ondo town in the early hours of Sunday.

With five dead bodies recovered from the auto crash, two passengers were said to be in critical condition following the injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the men of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, who were on ground at the scene, the accident involved a Sharon Volkswagen with registration number, KTU 706BW while the truck is said to be on the run.

About seven occupants were said to be on board of the Volkswagen bus when the truck rammed into it.

Meanwhile, the deceased bodies have been deposited at the General Hospital, Ondo while the injured are currently receiving treatment at the Ondo Trauma Centre.
