The timely intervention of the Kwara State Fire Service saved a petrol tanker from burning in a road accident on Saturday.

Spokesman of the fire service, Hassan Adekunle disclosed in Ilorin that the incident occurred at about 07:50hrs at Peke village along Bode-Saadu-Jebba expressway, in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The tanker involved with Reg No. DTM122XA was loaded with 45,000litres of PMS, popularly called petrol.

Personnel of the fire service who were at the scene of the accident for hours, kept cooling the tanker to prevent any form of fire outbreak until the whole fuel siphoning process was done.

According to the report, the accident was caused by the tanker driver’s impatience and over speeding.

He eventually caused the vehicle to tumble by the road side due to his action.

The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged tanker drivers to always drive safely as they could only live once.
