EPL: Two Nigerian players report to Arsenal training

Two Arsenal youngsters of Nigerian parentage, Miguel Azeez and Arthur Okonkwo will report for pre-season training at Arsenal next week Monday, according to allnigeriasoccer.com.

The two players will be hoping to impress first-team coach, Unai Emery during the pre-season preparations and earn spots in the traveling party to the United States.

Azeez impressed for Arsenal U18s last season despite being a schoolboy, having a hand in four goals from his eight appearances in the U18 Premier League.

The 16-year-old has agreed a scholarship which will be activated on July 1, 2019.

The central midfielder started all of the Young Lions matches at last month’s U17 EURO in the Republic of Ireland.

For Goalkeeper Okonkwo, he has brighter chances of making the roster for the tour of United States as he trained with the first team several times last season.

Okonkwo, 17, was on England U18 duty in June and was unbeaten as the Young Lions recorded wins against Russia and Mexico.
