EPL: Solskjaer makes two surprise inclusions in Man Utd’s squad to face Cardiff

Manchester United caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has included Angel Gomes and James Garner in his first squad.

The duo featured in the under-23’s draw against Derby on Thursday night and were pictured travelling with the first team squad to Cardiff.

Jose Mourinho’s sacking as Reds boss on Tuesday was explained, in part, by the stagnation of United’s brightest prospects under his tutelage.

And Solskjaer, who coached United’s second-string between 2008 and 2010, has been quick to signal his intentions with the resources at his disposal.

Mourinho gave Gomes his United debut at the age of 16 and Garner, 17, played for United on their pre-season tour of the United States and was a substitute in last week’s Champions League defeat to Valencia.
