Kompany announced his departure from Man City on Monday after signing a three-year deal with Belgium club, Anderlecht to become player-manager.
But Daily Mail is now reporting that Guardiola wants Man City’s board to sign Maguire as Kompany’s replacement ahead of next season.
The report claimed that Guardiola has been impressed with Maguire’s performance for Leicester City this season and wants the England international to move to the Premier League back-to-back champions this summer.
Maguire, who is valued at around £75million, has also drawn interest from Manchester United in recent weeks.
The centre-back was among the five players Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, wants to sign this summer.
