COVID-19: 16 out of 45 Almajiris returned to Jigawa test positive

The Jigawa State Government said 16 out of 45 almajiris repatriated from Kano to the state have tested positive of COVID-19.

Chairman, Jigawa Task Force on COVID-19 who is also Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abba Umar Zakari, disclosed this while briefing newsmen.

He said 600 samples were taken and first batch of the result has been released.

Zakari explained that out of 45 samples released 16 returned to be positive while 29 returned negative.

“Those who are negative would be released to their parents and those tested positive will be put in isolation and will be given medication until their results return negative,” he stated.

He said the committee was waiting for 555 remaining samples taken from the 600 repatriated almajiris from Kano State.

DAILY POST reported that 390 Jigawa almajiris were received from Nasarawa State and 39 were received from Gombe, while 42 were sent back from Kaduna State.

All the repatriated almajiris were quarantined at the Yakubu Gawon NYSC Orientation Camp.
