Barcelona vs Huesca: Messi dropped for LaLiga match after Smalling clash

Lionel Messi took part in full training with his Barcelona teammates on Friday, after being given the all-clear by club chiefs, but will be rested for this weekend’s league tie against Huesca.

Manager Ernesto Valverde wants to keep his talisman fresh, for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester United next Tuesday.

The Red Devils head to Camp Nou trailing 1-0 on aggregate.

Valverde wants Messi to be fresh for the home tie, after he was left bloodied and bruised following a collision with Chris Smalling on Wednesday night.

Messi, still sporting bruising across his nose and his left eye, was all smiles as Barca got back to work on Friday, having only done recovery work on Thursday.
