Army and police officers have surrounded a commercial aeroplane on a runway in Bangladesh following an attempted hijacking.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight to Dubai made an emergency landing in Chittagong on Sunday following an incident on the aircraft, a senior official from the airline said.
Shakil Miraj, the airline’s general manager, said army and police officers surrounded the plane after it was forced to land.
He added: “There were 142 passengers and all of them have come out from the aircraft safely.”
Air Force official Mofidur Rahman told reporters there were no casualties and that a suspect had been arrested and was being questioned.
The Boeing 737 had been scheduled to fly from Dhaka to the United Arab Emirates.
