Applicant in court for allegedly stealing electrical cables worth N2.5m

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State, on Wednesday, remanded, Tajudeen Adedipe, an applicant, for allegedly stealing electrical cables worth N2.5 million.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 32-year-old Adedipe is a resident of No. 26 Tolani St., Iyana-Iyesi, Ota.

He is charged with two counts of theft and burglary of which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution counsel, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, however told the court when and where the defendant committed the offence.

“The defendant committed the offence on July 20 at about 9 p.m. at Ogungbade road,Opposite Baptist Via Onihale, Ota.

”The defendant broke into the house of the complainant, Taiwo Subair, and stole electrical cables worth N2.5 million.

”The offence contravened the provisions of sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code,Law of Ogun, 2006.”

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, after admitting the defendant to bail in the sum of N400,000 and two sureties in like sum, ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed.

He then adjourned the case until September 5 for further hearing.
