AFCON 2019: Kanu Nwankwo reacts as Nigeria defeats Cameroon, qualify for quarter-final

Nigeria and Arsenal legend, Nwankwo Kanu, has hailed Nigeria’s Super Eagles for qualifying for the quarter-final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2019.

The Super Eagles defeated Cameroon 3-2 on Saturday.

Odion Ighalo opened scoring in the 19th minute, after his shot was deflected in by Banana.

The Indomitable Lions fought back to lead 2-1 before the break, thanks to goals from Stephane Bahoken and Clinton N’Jie.

However, Gernot Rohr’s men turned it around with two quickfire goals from Ighalo and Alex Iwobi.

Reacting, Kanu urged the Super Eagles to keep up the good work, hailing the team for their great comeback against the AFCON defending champions.

He Twitted: “Terrific Atmosphere down here in Egypt. Great comeback boys. Keep up the good spirits Super Eagles🇳🇬. #afcon2019 #supereagles #goodfight #football #goodspirit #nigeria #africa.”

The Super Eagles will now face South Africa in the quarter-final on Wednesday, July 10.
