President Tinubu Should Investigate Buhari’s Ministers for a Credible Anti-corruption Fight, Says Yerima

In a recent interview, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, the National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), urged President Bola Tinubu to investigate past ministers and their families for potential corruption. This measure, Shettima suggested, is essential if the new administration’s anti-corruption drive is to be seen as credible.

Shettima acknowledged the promising steps Tinubu has taken in his short tenure, contrasting this with perceived inefficiencies and widespread corruption during Buhari’s term. He called attention to the encouraging signals from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under Tinubu’s leadership.

However, Shettima stressed that the administration should extend its scrutiny to former ministers and their families. This would ensure that no misconduct or illicit acquisition of wealth goes unnoticed or unpunished.

The AYCF president also discussed current national issues, the appointments in the Tinubu administration, and the allegations made by Asari Dokubo about oil theft. He welcomed Tinubu’s apparent inclination to include younger, digitally savvy individuals in key positions, suggesting that the country needs new perspectives and dynamism to move forward
