Agriculture can be source of livelihood, sustain Nigerian youths – Plateau Govt

To mark the 2021 World Youth Day, the Plateau State government has mobilised 70 youths from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state to be sensitised on the need for dependence on agriculture for survival.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Victor Lapang disclosed this on Wednesday in Jos.

While addressing journalists on the “World Youth Day”, celebration, the Commissioner pointed out that agriculture can be a source of income and livelihood, hence, the state government’s was commitment to sensitise the youths.

He said the Ministry is organising a symposium for the youths in the state in partnership with the Centre for the Advocacy of Justice and Rights(CAJR) Jos with support from USAID which focuses on making agriculture a source for income and livelihoods.

“In line with the theme highlights for this year celebration, there is a need to drive efforts to make and encourage Plateau youths to adopt and own agriculture as means of livelihood and be more relevant, equitable and inclusive for all youth, including new and sustainable innovations.
