Nigeria vs Algeria: Rohr speaks on most important match of his career

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has downplayed the importance of winning Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Algeria.

The German has been trailed by speculations that he will be fired by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the AFCON.

Rohr, speaking at a pre-match conference Saturday, insisted that the most important match of his career is in the future and insisted that the players have represented Nigeria well.

“We’ve been playing well. Against South Africa and Cameroon we played well and my team has represented the country well.

“The most important match in my career is in the future. I’ve had wonderful times in the past but we just have to enjoy every moment and live for the moment.”

Rohr also spoke on the massive support for his team from the Egyptian crowd.

“We are brothers with Egyptians and fans will always cheer for good football.

“We don’t know why they’ve supported us perhaps because of our kits and fitness. We don’t know if they’ll support us tomorrow but we will go in to do our best,” he added.
