1. The National Assembly has published details of its budget for the year 2018.

Office of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Friday, said the measure was to ensure accountability and transparency of the National Assembly.

2. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has assured investors and the international community that the country having gone through a successful election, was ready for investments.

The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, on Friday night in Washington DC, held an informal meeting with potential investors, said that the Anchor Borrowers Programme, which targets local farmers was one of the major achievements of the bank under its development interventions.NAN reports

3. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted the report that it ignored the call for intervention over Mrs Kudirat Afolabi, a Nigerian woman, executed in Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking.

The ministry in a statement by its spokesperson, Sarah Sanda, on Friday in Abuja, said the report in one of the media was a complete falsehood.

4. The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw for the continent’s top teams has been completed.

The draw which took place behind the famous Giza Pyramids on Friday had 24 nations assembled into six groups of four teams each saw Nigeria in group B with Burundi, Madagascar and Guinea

5. A Federal High Court in Abuja has threatened to order the issuance of arrest warrant against Senator Hope Uzodinma should his lawyer renege on his pledge to produce him in court on April 18.

The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP) said it has, since filing a criminal charge against Uzodinma in October last year, been unable to have him attend court to plea to the charge.

7. The Rivers State Police Command has deployed over 3,066 personnel to strategic areas for supplementary election in some parts of the state on Saturday.

The Command’s Spokesman, DSP Nmandi Omoni, made this known in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday.

8. Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of House of Represenatives, Yakubu Dogara to respond to suit challenging their defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, within five days.

Justice Okon Abang on Friday also directed 18 senators, 36 House of Representatives members, the Attorney General of the Federation, INEC, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun to file and serve others their papers before April 18, when the suit is set for hearing.

9. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has accused the State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of embarking on a looting spree, ahead of the May 2019, inauguration, Post Nigeria reports.

This was made known on Friday, in a Press Release signed by Sam Onwuemeodo, the Chief Press Secretary to Okorocha.

10. The House of Representatives has passed a bill seeking to establish the Fishery Institute of Nigeria, NGO for fisheries research, education and cooperative training in Nigeria to enhance the agricultural sector.

The institute will be responsible for the broad functions of research experimentation, sample application and patenting, education and training, among others.
