The Jigawa State Police Command found the lifeless body of a 16-year-old “Almajiri” in Kiyawa Local Government Area on Friday. The assailants had gruesomely gouged out one of his eyes before the police’s arrival.
DSP Lawan Shiisu, the police spokesman for the state, mentioned on Friday that the deceased’s Islamic knowledge teacher, Malam Muhammad Mustafa, reported the incident to the authorities.
According to the complaint, the 16-year-old student went to a nearby bush to collect firewood around 8 am on Friday but failed to return home. “The student was later found in a pool of his own blood with one of his eyes removed,” Shiisu stated.
The boy was transported to Dutse General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed his death. Shiisu further revealed that a manhunt for the perpetrators is underway.
