Ondo Govt announces death of one coronavirus patient

The Ondo State Government has announced the death of one coronavirus patient in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen, said it was the first coronavirus death to be recorded in the state.

Adegbenro further explained that the patient died in the early hours of Monday at the Infectious Disease Hospital on Igbatoro Road in Akure, the state capital.

According to him, the state currently has 15 cases of COVID-19, 6 persons out of 15 tested negative and have been discharged from the Isolation center while 8 others are under treatment.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that another 248 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of cases in the country as of Sunday night to 4,399.
